Highline Office Technology was set up in April 2010 by Brian McDonnell and Robert Pepper. Having worked collectively for nearly 50 years in the industry, the time felt right to start up a company in the area of Managed Print Services with a focus on doing things differently. From the get-go, Robert and Brian were all about service, which is where our hashtag #ServiceExcellence emanated from.
Slowly but surely the business grew and with that our #TeamHOT grew also. We are so proud of the crew we have at Highline Office Technology. Everyone has a voice, everyone has a say and everyone is a vital component of the success of the company.
We have three full time engineers on the road, namely Colin Aitken, Colm Mahon and Joe Dalton. Dara O’Buachain or simply Dara for short, is our operations manager and ably keeps the rest of us in line. Jennifer Pepper works in accounts and back office, being the latest recruit to the team in 2018 and Jean Evans joined in early 2018 having spent 22 years in tourism and business tourism to assist in the sales and marketing area. She also does a LOT of networking, so be sure to look out for her at a networking event near you!
We started with Olivetti as our core brand and this stood us very well for the first number of years to get us off the ground selling printers and MFDs. But as with any business, if you remain static, your business will fail. Brian and Robert have always had a keen ear to the ground and an eye for opportunity. Strategic partnerships are a key aspect of what works for us. We are very selective on the brands that we work with, as they have to reflect our ideals and our ideas around sustainable development, environmental best practices, culture, accessibility, focus on serving customers, back up and training.
Epson is a brand that we quickly knew was right for us. We absolutely love working with the team in Santry. In the short time (since 2018) that we have been working with them, we have engaged proactively with them to drive business in Ireland, so much so that when they were aligning their own partnerships, we were among the key Irish partners that continued to help them drive their business. We expanded out our products to scanners and are also one of four wide format printer partners for Epson in Ireland, so our badges & accreditation continue to grow.
We also took on the reseller badge for HSM shredders and developed a website www.safesandshredders.ie. We have undergone a lot of training on the products and Jean even got to visit the factory in Germany in October 2019, having been out to the UK offices in 2018. Highline Office Technology – Safes & Shredders were then delighted to be appointed the maintenance company for HSM products in the Republic of Ireland. We just love their products, from the amazing shredders, to shredder balers and over to the ProfiPacks, packaging solution. (a personal favourite!).
And then December 2018, so actually an anniversary of sorts, we got accepted to become a Canon partner. It should be noted that while all brands want to sell more products, there is a project of due diligence undertaken to ensure that the companies, like Highline Office Technology, will invest in training, marketing, active sales and are a sound company. Brand integrity works both ways and this is another reason why we align with the brands that we do. They invest in us and we invest in them.
Since becoming a Canon partner, we have done hours upon hours of training. Our engineers did intensive training in the UK and we are delighted to report that Colin is the highest accredited engineer for the UK & Ireland. No mean feat! We regularly attend presentations and training days to maintain product and software knowledge. This business is so dynamic, that it’s nearly a full time occupation to keep up to date with it all. The product range is constantly expanding and we are always updating our ranges, for example, the large format printers in the Canon range are a new addition for us, as are their mono printers and MFDs. We are adding into the scanner range from Canon also, to complement the other products that we offer to our customers. Canon also allows us the opportunity to delve further into the software side of things, e.g. Therefore, Iris, Kofax, Uniflow, alongside other products such as Epson Print Admin and PaperCut that we also work with on behalf of our customers to ensure that they have an exceptional print experience, backed up by our #ServiceExcellence.
